I have a great dane puppy and just noticed today that he is not walking and standing on his pads, he is almost "flat footed". Can someone help me…
well i just trimmed his nails this week, they seem ok… thanks for the responses so far
Take your pup to the vets and have him looked at. Dane’s can suffer from a problem called knuckling over caused by to high a protein level in the food your feeding him. If this is the problem then a change to a food with less protein will fix this in a very short time.
You will need to have your vet confirm this and then make the correct food changes.
NOTE: Trimming of the nails will not help if your pup is showing signs of Knuckling. Look at the food bag and look at the protein levels. If the level is over 24% percent than that the likely culpret. Dane’s and any other Giant breed like your should not be fed puppy food or a food with a protein level higher than 24%. foods that can correct this is Canidae lamb and rice all life stages or Canidae all life stages. Both of these food have the correct protein levels for your Dane pup.
I have "flat feet." Are there any exercises and/or stretches that can be done to fix this or at least ameliorate it?
You should see a podiatrist or just go to a specialty running store they should be able to help you out with correct arch supports and advise on your problem,most of the people who own or work in these stores are actual runners and should be able to give you some free advice.
I live Brierley hill are near Merry Hill I like flat walks but would like company,I also like to take my small dog ,so it is excercise for both of us.Is there any likeminded people that would like to form a walkinf group.Any ages welcome.
